What you are seeing is an algae bloom. There is also an aquatic weed called spike rush that floats on the surface. Spike rush normally grows on the bottom of the lake and if you see this on the top then the good news is that it is dead or dying and will sink to the bottom in a short time. The reason it develops is usually due to high temperatures and stagnate water. University Estates pays a company to maintain the weeds and this type of growth. This service is performed monthly but if there is a situation that requires immediate attention, you can email the property manager to initiate a service call.
